My time in Nebraska!

I had a really GREAT time in Nebraska. It seems like whenever I would mention that I would visit Nebraska everyone would point out that everything would just be flat and made it sound like it would be almost boring or even question why I would go there. But I really enjoyed the scenery and the fact that the roads there are straight and almost flat has really been helpful and haven’t felt any car sickness. I also found the neighborhoods really beautiful as they are surrounded by tall trees and squirrels and rabbits in the gardens. (Now that’s something you don’t see in Cyprus everyday- especially the squirrels part).

I stayed with Rod and Dora Goodin. Dora is one of my mom’s closest friends since they grew up in Cyprus together, so it felt like I was with family. I am very grateful for their wonderful hospitality and for showing me around the area. Dora also took me to stores like Walmart and Hobby Lobby, so that I would get the full American feel of things.

They live in Hastings, Nebraska and one day we went to a nearby town to visit a Wild West Monument which is all inside a bridge overlooking the highway. It was really interesting hearing all about the American history and seeing the different struggles man had to go through in order to survive. (I’ve attached a few pictures so you can get an idea of what I saw).

I also had the chance to meet up with some people from the church they attend in Hastings and it was really nice just sharing about what God is doing in Cyprus. I think I almost managed to convince them to plan their next mission trip to Cyprus and that’s because I showed them pictures from our wonderful beaches. 😉 So maybe in the future I will see some of them again.

Another wonderful blessing I experienced was reuniting with my friend Alexandra who I met in Greece while helping at the summer camps. All 3 summers I was there she had also been there and so I haven’t seen her since. She drove all the way from South Dakota to Hastings, Nebraska, stayed with me for a day there and then drove me to Kansas. I really enjoyed spending time with her again and catching up and I am very grateful that she drove me around. It definitely made the trip a lot easier.

Overall I really enjoyed my time in Nebraska and it was really great to be able to speak in Greek again and spend some time with people from Cyprus.

God has really been with me throughout this entire trip and I’ve definitely seen Him guide my steps in all I do and open doors that I didn’t even think of. One of those doors was meeting people who work at a Christian station in Nebraska and was able to visit their station. It was nice seeing what they do and also exchanging several information and advice that I found helpful.

I am really thankful for all your prayers (especially about not getting sick) and I am definitely looking forward to what God has in store for me in the next places I visit. So far I feel truly blessed and just loved interacting with all the new people I met.

God bless you and hope you have a great day!

Love,
Anastasia
